"....low lie the fields of Athenry...."
This ballad was the inspiration for this necklace; it's worth it to look it up and listen to it. It's a song that refers to the Great Potato Famine of 1845-1850, which was provoked by the British. I believe this could be an "unofficial" anthem of Ireland - it certainly has been sung in defiance of the British Monarchy! Currently, it is a popular and well-known song of Irish sports teams.
This necklace is comprised of green dyed freshwater potato pearls, with contrasting pale lavender faceted-glass barrels. The accents are sterling silver and lead-free pewter Celtic-designs, finished with a silver-tone metal cross.
Wear it with pride!
